General commands

Server tasks: /commands are enabled for all moderators. slash commands give moderators a list of tools to perform a task. When a command says reason optional, you should disregard and always give a reason.

General moderation commands

/open - Opens a ticket

When replying to any user message, simply type /open to create a ticket on-the-fly. This will give you a private setting to discuss actionable offenses without issuing a warning. Our job is not only to protect this server, but it is to educate our members on what is acceptable and what is not.

  • When to use?

  • Use the /open command if you have previously issued a soft warning, or if the member begins arguing in chat after receiving a soft warning. Explain that a soft warning does not attach to their permanent record. Inform the user that continued behavior, if uncorrected, may result in an official warning. This should be your go-to when users start arguing. DO NOT engage in arguing

/warn [member] (reason) - Warn a member

If users become rowdy or unruly you can use this command to issue them a warning. It will give an infraction on their user ID. (If this is a first offense, use the !commands to issue a soft-warning)

  • Examples of warns:

  • Excessive foul language.

  • advertising other projects.

  • spamming user's DM without permission (request proof from reporting user before warning.)

  • harassing other users.

/infractions [member] - Display a member's infractions

If you issue a warning to a user, check their infraction history.

  • 1 warn - User receives a temporary mute for (5 minutes)

  • 3 warns - If within 30 minutes, User is temporarily muted from the server. (1 hour)

  • 5 warns - If within 12 hours, User is temporarily muted from the server (12 hours)

  • 10 warns - if within 1 day, User is temporarily muted from the server (24 hours)

  • 20 warns - if within 1 week, User is temorarily banned from server for (3 days) These should are automatically tracked by the bot *No need to manually act on any of these warnings*

/tempmute [member] [duration] (reason) - Temporarily mute a member in the server

All tempmutes should be issued by the bot. Under certain scenarios where a user is using harmful or deragatory language, a tempmute may be warranted ONLY to protect the community. Tempmutes should never exceed 1 hour if being issued manually.

/mute [member] (optional reason) - Mute a member in the server

This command permanently mutes a user. User can still see channels but will not be able to post indefinitely. Should be used at administrators discretion (Can be used by moderators to mute a user until an admin determines the appropriate course of action. Seldom use

/unmute [member] - Unmute a member from the serve

Unmutes user who was previously muted. (Works on both perm and temp mutes)

/tempban [member] [duration] (reason) - Temporarily ban a member from the server

Used to temporarily ban users - Only to be used by Sr Moderators and above

/kick [member] (optional) - Kick a member from the server

Kicking a user does not ban them from rejoining. This command can be used if a user contacts you regarding an alt account. E.g. Lost password and created new account and informs you about it. This is a tool only to be used to keep our server clean. Seldom used

/ban [member] (optional reason) - Ban a member from the server

BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE ISSUING A BAN.

  • Sending/Linking any harmful material such as viruses, trojans, or spyware.

  • Harmful or violent threats against other users. (must be severe)

  • Posting obscene and blatant NSFW content. (This does not include suggestive content. Examples of actionable offenses includes screen sharing pornographic material, posting images including gifs, or linking to videos via a URL). Pornographic material is only considered as such if nudity is clearly visible. This DOES include the female breasts where the nipples are exposed and any male or female genitalia. This DOES NOT include scantly clad man/women where breasts and genitalia are not exposed. Images that are suggestive (such as fully nude but not exposed, gifs where the act of sex is clearly visible but not exposed, or scantly clad individuals do NOT warrant a ban. In the event of suggestive material, moderators shoudl IMMEDIATELY delete the image, video, or URL and issue warning as stated in the NSFW policy.

/unban [member] - Unban a member from the server

Unban a member from our server. Moderators should only unban users if approved by admin, or if user banned by mistake (accidentally selected wrong user when banning a member for any example above.) **Be vigilant and make sure you ban the correct user. Don't make that mistake... Seriously don't. :)
